Aija Mayrock inspires thousands of people through her powerful poetry and words. The author and activist joined us on #SocialLIVE to chat about staying positive on #socialmedia.

Stephanie and Courtney comment on the latest updates in the social sphere including new ad capabilities from Facebook and #Snapchat plus the new head of Instagram.

  1. Facebook announced that all businesses now have the capability to run ads on Facebook Stories as an additional placement. They also added that they’ll improve the performance of story ads in Messenger as well. The platform reported that Facebook and Messenger Stories now see 300 million daily active users.
  2. Last week the talk of the social media world was around the resignation of Instagram’s co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. which many believe may have been due to tensions with Mark Zuckerburg. Wasting no time, Facebook has appointed a new head of InstagramWho got the gig? Former Facebook News Feed VP Adam Mosseri. 
  3. Despite slow growth, Snapchat still has a dedicated young audience with a large influence on holiday shopping. The platform is taking full advantage of that with new shoppable ‘Collection’ ads for brands to showcase relevant products, with tappable thumbnails along the bottom of a Snap ad.
  4. Aija Mayrock self-published the book “The Survival Guide to Bullying” when she was 16 years old! The author and spoken word artist joined us on #SocialLIVE to share about how she is working to end the bullying epidemic and the impact social media has had on her career.
